PRIVACY

Privacy

This page explains what Playlog Viewer stores and how that information is used.

Account information

When you register, the site stores your email address, display name, password hash, account dates, chosen appearance theme and profile picture, when supplied. Passwords are stored as password hashes rather than readable passwords.

Playlog data

Your uploaded or synchronised playlog.db file is stored so the site can display your play history. It can contain game names, systems, timestamps, session information and cumulative playtime. Your private playlog is not made public unless you create a share link.

Global Stats

Anonymous aggregate playtime is included in Global Stats by default. These totals are used to rank games and systems across the community. Global Stats do not display your username, email address, ROM paths, sync token or individual session timeline.

You can opt out at any time from the Privacy panel on your Account page. Opting out removes your aggregate rows from Global Stats.

RetroAchievements

Connecting RetroAchievements is optional. When connected, the site stores your RetroAchievements username and an encrypted copy of your Web API key so it can request achievement information on your behalf. Disconnecting removes those saved credentials.

MiSTer Sync

MiSTer Sync uses a private token associated with your account. The usable token is shown to you for installation, while the site stores a hash for authentication. You can revoke active sync tokens from your Dashboard.

Screenshots and sharing

Uploaded game screenshots are stored with your account. Share links expose only the playlog view connected to that link and can be revoked. Private account settings and credentials are not included in shared pages.

Cookies and sessions

The site uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. It does not require advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Data retention and deletion

Your account data remains stored while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account from the Account page. Deletion removes the account, saved playlog, screenshots, share links, sync tokens, RetroAchievements details and Global Stats contributions. Deleted accounts cannot be recovered.

Contact

Questions, support requests and privacy concerns can be sent through the site’s Contact page.
